About Cally Farrer
I am a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and BACP-registered Counsellor with 15 years experience in various clinical roles across mental health and substance misuse services. My work is structured, collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming, and grounded in compassion.
Professional background
I am a dual-trained counsellor and CBT therapist, holding a Master's degree in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Counselling.
Alongside private therapy, I have worked extensively within mental health and substance misuse services, supporting people experiencing a wide range of emotional and behavioural difficulties.
My specialist interest is the relationship between ADHD, addiction, addictive behaviours, emotional regulation difficulties and self-destructive patterns of behaviour. Many of the people I worked with were struggling not only with addiction, but also with impulsivity, overwhelm, low self-esteem and difficulties managing emotions.
Today, I work with adults experiencing ADHD, addictive behaviours and emotional regulation difficulties, helping them understand the patterns that may be keeping them stuck, reduce self-blame, and develop practical strategies for meaningful and lasting change. I also offer aftercare and relapse-prevention support for individuals leaving residential rehabilitation or detox services.

What therapy is like
We begin by understanding what has been happening and what you would like support with.
We develop a shared understanding of what is keeping the difficulty going.
We agree goals that feel meaningful, realistic, and useful.
We practise strategies that support change inside and outside sessions.
We track progress and plan for the future.
